Our First Ever ‘For our Stars Memory Walk’

Saturday’s skies may have been grey, but the spirit of the first-ever For Our Stars Memory Walk at the stunning Margam Country Park was anything but. Despite the wet weather, hundreds of walkers came together in love, remembrance, and solidarity. Every step taken was a tribute to a life lost too soon and a powerful show of support for families affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.

A Wonderful Atmosphere

From the moment the gates opened at 9:30am, spirits were high when Margam was brightened up with the colour blue as our walkers donned their Memory Walks t-shirts and most importantly, tribute badges, all kindly printed by Trustmark. Each one carrying a name, a message, a memory. Some were decorated with glitter and stickers at the customisation station, others kept simple and heartfelt. Every badge told a story. Every badge honoured a star. With face-painting & braids by Heather Feathery, many really got into the spirit of the event, sporting glittery stars and a range of fun designs

After a lively warm-up led by our Ambassador and friend of 2wish, Jonathan Williams (HSBC & JCFC Entertainments), our walkers set off on their 3km route. Guided by our amazing volunteers, the paths wound through the stunning grounds of Margam Country Park, past deer-dotted fields, picturesque lakes and forestry, and the majestic Margam Castle. Along the way, people shared stories, held hands, and paused to reflect. There were tears, smiles, hugs, and moments of connection. Back at the Event Village, medals were handed out and hot drinks, food and refreshments helped warm cold hands, as well as ice cream for the brave few.

And as everyone collected past the finish line after what had been such a poignant and joyous morning, it was clear that this was more than a walk. It was a memory made together and a moment of love and remembrance.

Made Possible With your Support

We are incredibly grateful to Insight Law, our headline sponsor, for helping make this landmark event possible. Their support goes far beyond sponsorship—it reflects a deep commitment to compassion, community, and making a real human impact. Insight Law’s team showed up in full force, volunteering, cheering, and connecting with families throughout the day. We would also like to extend a massive thank you to long time supporters at HSBC who also came out to volunteer and support us in making the first ever Memory Walk a success. An extra special thank you goes out to MERTS for their support in preparing for the event and for their health and safety services on the day, ensuring that our walk was carried out safely. And with their very fetching 2wish sunglasses, they brought a little summer cheer with them too!

And to all of our wonderful 2wish volunteers who come out rain or shine, this event could not have happened without you.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, braved the rain, and walked for our stars. Your presence, your journeys, and your support mean the world.

The funds raised from our first-ever For Our Stars Memory Walk now sit at over £8,000! This incredible total was only made possible thanks to everyone who gave their time and services, and to all who signed up to walk with us in memory of our stars. Every penny raised helps us continue our vital work supporting families through unimaginable loss and anyone affected by sudden death in young people.

Thank you for walking with us. Thank you for remembering and thank you for making our first Memory Walk one we will never forget!
