I set up the bereavement charity 2wish after suffering the devastating loss of my son George and husband Paul. In February 2012 I had just returned to work as a P.E. teacher after having my youngest son George when tragedy struck my family. George died suddenly with no sign of illness in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant on the 22nd of February. Just days later Paul, my husband and the Daddy to my three children, took his own life traumatised by the loss of our son. Motivated by a desire to ensure others would not have the same devastating experience after losing a child suddenly in hospital I decided to set up 2wish.In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and friends.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about dancing in the rain”
I have a background in service delivery and, since 2005, have developed services within a health and social care setting including residential services for children with disabilities, the prevention of violence against women and domiciliary care for the elderly. Having lost my brother unexpectedly in 2001, I understand the devastation a sudden loss can bring. It’s not only the death of the significant person, but the ripple effect of grief that permeates into every aspect of life, especially when the death is unexpected and the loved one still so young. Outside of work, you’ll find me with family and friends, or with our dog, Dobby, on the beach with a ball.
“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. “
I have a professional background in Operations management for Consumer Rights organisations and previously people management in the financial services sector. Personally, joining 2wish is a privilege as my young son was very close to tragedy when he was new-born, and I know I’m one of the lucky ones. Knowing I’m helping those in their worst hours make life that little bit more bearable is amazing to me. I’m honoured to be able to bring my experience to the operational running of our wonderful organisation. Outside of work, you’ll find me with my family and cooking up a storm in our kitchen.
