Tucked away in the South Wales countryside, Margam Park is a hidden gem which overlooks the stunning surrounding coastline.
This 850 acre site is also home to approx 300 red, fallow and Pere David deer.
Discover historic features including the iconic Margam Castle, Orangery and the ruins of Margam Abbey, founded in 1147.
There’s something for all the family, including a magical children’s fairytale land, farm trail, adventure playground and even pedal go-karts for hire.
This event has kindly been sponsored by Insight Law. You can find out more about our relationship with them HERE.
Expect fun, excitement and community, with meaningful moments to remember and reflect.
Join us at our welcoming Event Village from 9:30 am, where you will receive your event t-shirt, tribute badge and complimentary bottle of water.
There will be the opportunity to decorate your tribute badges at our customisation station, featuring stickers and sparkles galore.
Or if you’d really like to get in the spirit of the event, we’ll have face painters on hand for children and grown-ups alike, as well as merchandise and accessories to adorn yourselves as you step out “for our stars”.
The walk will begin at approx 11:30am, with a quick warm up session taking place to boost your energy levels.
The route is 3km and will be clearly marked and marshalled by our amazing volunteers and staff. There’ll be plenty to keep little ones occupied with activities to do en route, and a few surprises along the way.
Once your walk concludes, join us back at the event village to collect your medal* and enjoy some refreshments as we look back with pride on a day of community and joyful reflection, coming together to remember our stars.
We’ll see you at the start line for the first-ever “For Our Stars” Memory Walk.
There’s no minimum fundraising target for this event – just raise what you can. Every step and every donation helps us support families affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.
If you haven’t already created a fundraising page as part of the sign-up process for the Memory Walks, you can create one HERE.
Memory Walks are family-friendly sponsored events held in September, offering a special opportunity to walk in memory of a loved one and help raise vital funds for 2wish.
Whether you’ve experienced the sudden loss of a loved one or want to show your support for families going through bereavement, these walks are a powerful way to remember, reflect, and unite as a community.
Each step taken helps us continue providing the vital support to those affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult aged 25 and under.
The virtual event is suited to you if you wish to do a memory walk but can’t attend our in person event or want to do a Memory Walk in an area that’s special to you and your loved ones.
It’s easy to take part! Sign up for a digital fundraising pack, invite people to join you (or walk solo), set up your fundraising page and get walking!
We recommend keeping your Memory Walk small, with just friends, family or colleagues so that it is nice and easy to organise. If you want to be part of a larger event, we recommend attending our existing walk.
3km long.
Please check the event page for your walk for more details about the route, including information about route accessibility.
All Memory Walk routes are clearly signposted and marshalled by volunteers and marshals, so a route map isn’t required to take part.
Yes, you can bring dogs but they must always be kept on a short lead. (For the safety of others please do not use extendable leads).
The Memory Walk will go ahead, come rain or shine. However, we know the British weather can be unpredictable (to say the least). In the unlikely event that a Memory Walk has to be cancelled or postponed due to the weather, we will do our best to give you as much notice as possible to ensure the least amount of disruption is caused.
A bottle of water is included in your registration and will be available to collect on the day.
We will have photographers at the event to capture special moments throughout the day. We appreciate that not everyone might like to have their photograph taken. If you do not want your photograph taken, please do let us know at the registration desks on arrival, and we will issue you with a red wristband so that you are visible to our photographers.
Wearing a red wristband means that our photographer will know that you do not wish to be photographed and will avoid doing this as much as is possible. Please ensure that your red wristband is visible at all times so that the photographer is aware of your wishes.
Our event site gets very busy and can be loud, especially during the warm up just before the walk starts. Once the walk is underway the event site is quieter. We have volunteers as marshals, across the route who can assist you during the walk.
If you, or somebody in your party, has concerns and would like to discuss attending an event in advance please contact our team on [email protected].
Please note, we cannot provide a carer or an accompanier on behalf of anyone participating in the walk. In addition to this, the 5k route at Margam Country Park is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
It is essential that all those wanting to take part in an event organised by us, register on our website individually. Multiple registrations under one name will not be recognised.
An exception is that if a walker is unable to take part in an event without the additional assistance and support of a carer on the route, the carer is not required to complete the registration form. In these circumstances, the carer may simply turn up on the day alongside the registered walker.
Please note, we cannot provide a carer or accompanier on behalf of anyone participating in the walk.
Under 16s can take part in our events if they are accompanied by a paying adult over 18, they must register via the Teen or Child ticket option.
Registration packs will be sent out several weeks prior to the event taking place. Date is yet to be confirmed.
There’s no minimum fundraising target – just raise what you can. Every step and every donation helps us support families affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.
If you can no longer attend, please contact us with your name, address and the walk you signed up to. We can then withdraw you from the event so you do not receive any further communications. Alternatively, you can call us on 01443 853125, and a member of our fundraising team will be happy to help.
We will provide more information on this closer to the event dates.
