In 2012, after the sudden loss of her one-year-old son, George, and husband, Paul, Rhian Mannings founded 2wish from her kitchen table with one mission: that no family should have to face the loss of a child or young adult alone. Since then, the charity has grown into a vital lifeline for thousands, offering immediate and ongoing support to those facing unimaginable grief.
We are proud to announce the next chapter of our journey as we expand further across England, into phase 2 of our expansion plan towards becoming a national charity. From Monday 21st July, 2wish will open our doors and start delivering our service in Merseyside, Devon & Cornwall, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Man.
Our mission has always been simple: to ensure the offer of support to anyone affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult aged 25 and under. This includes family members, including siblings, grandparents and extended family members, friends, peer groups, witnesses, professionals and any other individual affected. Through memory boxes, counselling, complementary therapies, play therapy, coffee mornings, support events, or our much-needed respite house, our support is there every step of the way.
At the very heart of what we do is immediate support following the death – within 48 hours of a referral, a member of our team reaches out to offer support, walking with families from the early hours of their grief, and for as long as they need us.
As we move into these counties, we’ve been working tirelessly to expand our team. This ensures that our services remain personal, heartfelt, and our service quality remains high and consistent, mirroring our approach in Wales and phase one England. From October 2025, we’ll be out in the community, attending events and sharing information on how you can access our services.
We work closely with police forces, hospitals, and other frontline services to ensure families are offered support, that professionals are aware of the service we offer and the support they too can access.
Without your continued support, we could not deliver the vital care needed by those suddenly bereaved. Which is why we want to hear from you. If you know of somewhere in particular where you feel would benefit from awareness training, or you would just like to know more about our service, our expansion plans, or how you can get involved, then please get in touch with [email protected]
This second phase of our expansion isn’t just about growth – it’s about making our presence known, through partnership and with purpose. We’re actively looking to build relationships that are meaningful and sustainable, with local organisations, individuals and other charities with similar values. We believe in collaboration and in building a participatory relationship where values align, and missions are met together with one common goal: supporting those in need.
There are so many ways to get involved in our work – from taking part in a fundraising challenge like a marathon or wellbeing walk, to volunteering at events and supporting us through your business or organisation. Every connection made helps us reach more families during their darkest days.
The past year of our phase 1 expansion in England has been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to continue our journey and share in the progress with you. We’re looking forward to meeting new families, building a network of passionate volunteers, and creating a lasting impact across these new regions. You can find a wealth of information about getting involved on our website or by contacting [email protected]
If you or someone you know has been affected by the sudden death of a child or young person in any of the areas mentioned above, please contact [email protected]
