Safeguarding

Safeguarding at 2wish

At 2wish, safeguarding is central to everything we do. We work with children, young people, adults and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and we recognise our responsibility to create a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone who comes into contact with our services.

We are committed to responding promptly and appropriately where concerns arise. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at 2wish, and we work closely with families, professionals and partner agencies to promote wellbeing and protect those who may be at risk.

Our approach to safeguarding is underpinned by UK legislation, national guidance and best practice, including the Wales Safeguarding Procedures and Working Together to Safeguard Children. All staff, volunteers, trustees and contractors are required to follow our safeguarding policies and procedures.

Introducing our Safeguarding Leads

We have a clear safeguarding leadership structure to ensure concerns are taken seriously and acted upon appropriately.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Kirstie Edwards – Head of Bereavement Services

Kirstie is 2wish’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and is responsible for providing expert safeguarding advice, oversight and support across the organisation. She ensures that safeguarding concerns are responded to appropriately, referrals are made when required, and that safeguarding practice, records and learning are reviewed and improved.

Deputy Safeguarding Lead

Catrin Cross – Immediate Support Coordinator

Catrin is the Deputy Safeguarding Lead and supports the Designated Safeguarding Lead in all safeguarding matters. She fulfils the safeguarding lead role in Kirstie’s absence and contributes to safeguarding decision‑making, reporting and follow‑up.

Alongside this, Catrin serves as the Immediate Support Coordinator for Wiltshire, where she works directly with families and professionals to provide timely, compassionate support following the sudden death of a child or young person.

Safeguarding Trustee

Cerri Dando-Thompson – Trustee

Cerri Dando-Thompson is Acting Head of Services at the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit, where she leads safeguarding strategy and quality assurance across UK sport and voluntary sectors.

Within 2wish Cerri acts as the Safeguarding representative on our board of trustees. This role provides guidance and oversight to support provided by the safeguarding team

Our Safeguarding Policy

Our Safeguarding Policy & Procedure document outlines 2wish’s policies regarding safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and the measures taken by 2wish to ensure safeguarding best practice is maintained across the organisation.
