Edward, known to his family and friends as Ed or Eddie, was 14 years old when he died suddenly. While his loss is felt deeply every day, those who loved him most choose to remember the remarkable young person he was, the joy he brought to others, and the many talents and interests that made him so special.
Ed was a creative, kind and exceptionally talented young person. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished piano player, able to listen to a song a handful of times before teaching himself to play it. He enjoyed making stop motion films with Lego, writing stories, drawing, reading and immersing himself in the world around him.
As well as his creative pursuits, Edward loved swimming, badminton and birdwatching. He embraced learning in all forms and as a home educated, autistic young person, flourished in an environment that allowed him the freedom to explore his interests and learn through life’s experiences. His family always ensured he had choices and home education gave him the opportunity to learn in a way that suited him best.
One of Ed’s proudest achievements was earning his Grand Prior Award through St John Ambulance. He received the award at Llandaff Cathedral in June 2025, surrounded by his siblings and those who loved him. It was a moment that reflected his enthusiasm for helping others.
Edward was loving, thoughtful and devoted to the people around him. He wanted those he cared about to be happy and laughing and he had a unique ability to bring joy to others. His family describe him as a “wonderful, beautiful soul” who was loved by everyone he met.
Following Edwards’ passing death, 2wish provided immediate and ongoing support to the family. From the moment they received support in hospital, through memory boxes, keepsakes and specialist bereavement support, 2wish has continued to walk alongside them during the most difficult time of their lives. The family credit the charity, their immediate support coordinator and the parent support groups with helping them navigate their grief and ensuring they never felt alone.
In honour of Edwards’ memory, the family are taking part in the 2wish Memory Walk at Margam Park. For them, it is an opportunity to remember a much-loved son, brother and friend, while giving back to the charity that has supported them throughout their bereavement journey.
Edwards’ memory lives on in the stories he wrote, the music he played, the laughter he shared and the love he gave so freely. His family continue to hold close one of his favourite expressions, “Liblob”, his own special way of saying, “I love you.”
