Bereavement Rooms
The care that bereaved families receive in hospital following the death of their child is crucial. Small details can mean a great deal to recently bereaved parents and families and the environment in which care is delivered is of particular importance.
Whilst no facilities can lessen the grief and anguish bereaved families may feel, the room is designed to give families a private and comforting space where loved ones can wait for news, and when necessary, be together to say their final goodbyes.
2wish have, to date, refurbished family rooms at the following hospitals:
University Hospital Wales, Cardiff Emergency Department
University Hospital of Wales, Paediatric Critical Care
Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, Critical Care
Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr, Emergency Department
Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, Emergency Department
Royal Gwent, Newport, Emergency Department
Nevil Hall, Abergavenny
Coroner’s Office, Pontypridd
Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, Emergency Department
Morriston Hospital, Morriston, Acute Paediatrics
The rooms are painted in comforting colours and furnished in a way that it does not feel too clinical.
Chief Executive of the Cwm Taf health board, Allison Williams said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these new facilities within the A & E department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital which will provide the opportunity for family and friends to spend time with their loved ones in a calmer and quieter environment at a very difficult time.”
